After six years with Mercury®, Matt became CEO in 2009 and has led an aggressive growth strategy focused on increasing the company’s distribution footprint and product offerings. The company’s product portfolio has expanded beyond core credit card processing services to include a diverse set of value-added services including security, gift, rewards and mobile integrations. Under Matt’s leadership, Mercury is one of the fastest growing payments companies in the United States and has earned numerous accolades from industry associations, including the Retail Solutions Providers Association Top Vendor Award for five consecutive years, Business Solutions Magazine’s Best Channel Vendor for six consecutive years, Outside Magazine’s Best Places to Work in 2013 and a Top 5 Companies to Work for in Colorado award in 2010.

Part of Matt’s vision for Mercury is to develop a strong and diverse presence in philanthropic activities. In 2011, he led the formation of MercuryGives, an organization developed to coordinate volunteer efforts and charitable giving of Mercury’s employees. Since inception, corporate charitable contributions and Mercury employees volunteer hours have contributed more than $1 million in donations to Colorado nonprofits.

Prior to becoming CEO, Matt served as the Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing from 2003 to 2009. Working with the company’s founders, Matt led the development of the company’s distribution model and go-to-market strategy. During this timeframe, Mercury established itself as a leader in integrated point-of-sale solutions, developing partnerships with thousands of POS providers in the marketplace.

Matt serves on the boards of two organizations created under the State of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development. He is a member of the Colorado Innovation Network (COIN) board of directors, consisting of industry and academic leaders chosen by Governor John Hickenlooper from across the state of Colorado. Matt also serves on Colorado’s Technology Industry CEO Steering Committee, guiding strategy for Colorado’s tech industry development. Matt graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Business Administration from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado. He received the President’s Distinguished Alumni award in 2011.
