Matt Taylor, Chief Executive Officer

Matt Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, took the helm of Mercury Payment Systems in June, 2009, following six years of unparalleled advancement in the company. In 2003, he joined a small group of initial employees who built the foundation for the company’s rapid growth. Taylor first served as Director of Sales, finding a welcome reception for Mercury’s integrated payments technology and unique POS partner-centric model. As his initiatives fueled continuous development of channel partner advantages, he was promoted to Vice President of Sales, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Chief Operating Officer. Taylor’s visionary outlook drives innovative development of new product and service offerings that keep Mercury at the forefront of integrated payments and poised for future growth. An expert in integrated payments solutions, he is frequently tapped as an industry spokesperson to offer insight to trends in payments technology, the POS reseller channel, and credit card data security. Taylor graduated summa cum laude from Fort Lewis College with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration.

Karsten Voermann, Chief Financial Officer

Karsten Voermann came to Mercury Payment Systems with comprehensive experience in finance, strategic consulting, and business development. Prior to Mercury, he led finance and operations at ContentGuard, Inc. and CPA2Biz, Inc. At both companies, cash flow grew more than 10 times during his tenure. Voermann held financial, corporate development, and strategy-focused positions at Microsoft Inc., Bain & Company and McKinsey & Company. At Microsoft, Voermann focused on strategy formulation and execution in various technology areas. At Bain and McKinsey, he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions and IPO preparation engagements, as well as improving the technology infrastructure. Voermann holds a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Western Ontario and an MBA from the Harvard Business School. He is also a CPA.

Brian Sadowski, Chief Information Officer

Brian Sadowski has 23 years experience working in information technology. His focus is positioning Mercury's technology as a competitive advantage and helping Mercury achieve its business goals by defining IT strategy and plans, implementing initiatives, and leading technology development and operations. He will use his command of enterprise architecture design and planning to ensure Mercury's technology is secure, scalable, and reliable. Prior to Mercury, he was the Chief Technology Officer with Xerox/ACS and TSYS Acquiring Solutions. Sadowski graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in management information systems.

Steve Wilson, Senior Vice President of Sales

Steve Wilson joined Mercury’s merchant sales division in 2004. As Director of Merchant Sales, and subsequently as Vice President of Merchant Sales, Wilson led the development of Mercury’s internal merchant boarding management systems, created the Merchant Retention department, and established the Strategic Accounts division. In his current position as Senior Vice President of Sales, Wilson manages all of Mercury’s merchant, dealer and developer sales initiatives. He is responsible for Mercury’s merchant sales, sales operations, large account acquisitions, retention, dealer and developer recruiting, and pricing and profitability initiatives. Steve is well-versed in integrated payment processing from the merchant perspective. He regularly attends industry trade shows, including ETA, RSPA, and other strategic reseller and developer conferences. Wilson holds a bachelor of science degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.

Shelley Plomske, Vice President of Technical Services

As Vice President of Technical Services, Shelley Plomske is responsible for all technical and support solutions at Mercury. She oversees the company’s customer service and technical support call center, business network and database administration, software, quality assurance, developer support services, and project and product management teams. Since joining Mercury in 2002, Plomske has been instrumental in driving technology and product innovation to add value for the company’s channel partnerships. Plomske places emphasis on collaboration both within and outside the company: developing custom tools to benefit external strategic partners, and emphasizing cross-departmental interaction with Mercury’s sales and marketing teams. Plomske attended the first annual meeting of the PCI Standards Council. She stays abreast of industry trends through continuing education classes with Global Payments, ETA and RSPA. Plomske holds a bachelor of science degree in computer science from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO.

Carrie Betts, Vice President of Human Resources

Carrie Betts has led Mercury’s Human Resources division since 2004. Under her leadership, Mercury has experienced positive employee satisfaction surveys, received a 2008 Best Companies to Work For award from the Colorado Society for Human Resource Management, and was a finalist in Colorado Biz Magazine’s 2008 Top Company Competition in the financial services category. As Vice President of Human Resources, Betts guides and manages all of the company’s HR services and programs including recruitment, benefits, compensation, employee training, performance reviews, and organizational development and planning. During her tenure, Betts has developed and implemented the company’s employee benefits program and HR policies and procedures. Prior to Mercury, Betts served on the management team at Metropolitan Family Service, a social service agency in Portland, OR. She holds a bachelor of science degree in psychology from Portland State University.

Tom Reichart, Vice President of Business Development

Tom Reichart, vice president of business development for Mercury Payment Systems, specializes in developing and supporting new partnerships with reseller and developer channels. With 37 years in the POS business, Reichart is an expert in POS and ECR software and sales across all vertical markets. Since joining Mercury in 2006, he helps dealerships achieve success by increasing their customer base and maximizing Mercury’s partnership benefits. He understands dealerships’ internal operations and offers unique perspectives to improve profitability and conversion. Reichart began his career with NCR as a cash register/accounting machine salesman and progressed to become Vice President of Channel Sales, where he was responsible for managing retail sales distribution through reseller channel. While with NCR, he managed international sales and marketing, including the Latin America division. Reichart has been affiliated with the Retail Service Providers Association (RSPA) for 15 years and is on its board of directors. He has an executive MBA certificate in Marketing from AT&T Corporate Education, and a bachelors of science degree from Eastern Illinois University.  

Dennis Porter, Vice President of Strategic Planning

As vice president of strategic planning at Mercury Payment Systems®, Dennis Porter heads a skilled and accessible team that supports executives and directors in the implementation of the company’s priority initiatives. His team creates, executes and measures strategic plans designed to power Mercury’s successful future. Porter joined Mercury in 2008 as Customer Service Manager and soon after was promoted to Director of Customer Service and then Director of Agile Program Management. In this role, Porter worked closely with all Mercury departments to provide exceptional sales support of new and enhanced products and services. He brings to Mercury past experience at Electronic Data Systems (EDS), where he managed global technical support centers in Nova Scotia, India, and Belgium. He incorporates Kepner–Tregoe training, a problem-solving and decision-making methodology used by technology companies, to achieve Mercury’s goals. He holds an MBA in technology management from the University of Phoenix.

Pamella Harrington, Vice President and Controller

As vice president and controller, Pamella Harrington oversees all financial aspects of the company, including the Accounting, Risk and Underwriting departments. She is responsible for monitoring risk, losses, revenue, and expenses for the company. Harrington’s teams are an important resource for decision making and fiscal responsibility. Since joining Mercury in 2005, she has become well versed in the company’s financial functions. She offers Mercury’s executives a comprehensive financial outlook that includes past, present and future conditions. Harrington frequently attends industry-specific continuing education courses and conferences. She holds a bachelor of science degree in accounting and finance from Adams State College in Alamosa, Colorado.
