Marc Katz, Mercury Payment Systems, Chairman

As Co-Founder, President, and CEO, Marc Katz led Mercury Payment Systems through eight consecutive years of unprecedented growth. Originally masterminding Mercury's technology component as the chief architect for new product development and strategy, he was instrumental in cultivating and maintaining relationships with developer partners as they integrated Mercury's innovative transaction processing solutions. Katz retired as CEO in June, 2009. Now, as Chairman of the Board, he not only continues to advise technological development growth strategies, but also counsels Mercury for continued success as a leader in integrated payment processing, card data security compliance, and point-of-sale reseller support. Katz has been actively involved with high-tech businesses for close to 30 years. From 1982 to 1991, he co-owned Graphicus, Inc., a Seattle-based software development firm, and in 1992 founded Durango Computer, a technology training and consulting firm. In 2001, he joined his brother, Jeffrey, to form Mercury Payment Systems. Katz holds a degree in computer science from the State University of New York at Buffalo.

Mike Afergan, Akamai, Director

Mike Afergan is the Chief Technology Officer at Akamai. Dr Afergan joined the company in 1999 and since then has held key leadership roles including running engineering and product organizations as well as building Akamai's advertising business and organization. Dr. Afergan also has a distinguished academic research career. At MIT's Laboratory for Computer Science and at Harvard, his areas of research focused on networking and distributed systems. This includes the impact of economic incentives on networked systems, reliable networking and content distribution protocols, and wireless protocols and architectures. He holds an AB from Harvard College, a SM from Harvard University, and a PhD from MIT.

Mike Bingle, Silver Lake (New York), Director

Mike Bingle joined Silver Lake in 2000. He is a Managing Director and a member of the Investment and Operating Committees of Silver Lake Partners. Prior to joining Silver Lake, Bingle was a principal at Apollo Advisors, L.P., a large-scale and diversified private equity firm, and previously worked as an investment banker in the Leveraged Finance Group of Goldman, Sachs & Co. In addition to Mercury Payment Systems, Bingle serves on the Board of Directors of Gartner, Inc., Gerson Lehrman Group, Inc., and IPC Systems, Inc., and on the Board of Visitors of Duke University’s School of Engineering. He is also a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Previously, Bingle was a director of Ameritrade Holding Corp., Datek Online Holdings, Inc. and Instinet, Inc. He holds a B.S.E. in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.

Robert Frankfurt, Myca Partners, Inc., Director

Robert Frankfurt is President of of Myca Partners, Inc., a firm he founded in 2006 to invest in value-oriented, small cap, public U.S. companies. His background as a principal investor, capital raiser and allocator, board member, turnaround/restructuring manager, and investment banker enables him to work effectively with senior leadership and large shareholders of portfolio companies to implement business strategy. Prior positions include Partner at Steel Partners and Vice President, Special Situations, at Sandell Asset Management. He is also a director of WHX Corp., a global diversified industrial products company, and Peerless Systems Corp., licensor of imaging and networking technologies for manufacturers of printers, copiers and multi-function devices. He previously served on the Board of Directors of Puroflow, Inc. and MDM Technologies, LLC. Frankfurt graduated from the Wharton School of Business with a B.S. in Economics. He received his MBA at the Anderson Graduate School of Management, UCLA, where he was a Venture Capital Fellow and served as Alumni Class President.

Charles Giancarlo, Silver Lake (Menlo Park), Director

Charles Giancarlo joined Silver Lake in 2007 as a Managing Director and Co-Head of Value Creation. Giancarlo has over 25 years of experience in the communications industry. A senior executive at Cisco Systems from 1993-2007, Giancarlo most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Cisco and President of Cisco-Linksys, leading the company’s overall product development and management activities. As Chief Development Officer, Giancarlo directed the activities of half of Cisco’s employees, and was directly responsible for Cisco’s expansion into a large number of new markets and technologies. His first position at Cisco was Vice President of Business Development, where he developed Cisco’s merger and acquisition strategy and practice. Giancarlo joined Cisco when the company acquired Kalpana, Inc., the pioneer in Ethernet switching, where he was Vice President of Marketing and Corporate Development. Prior to joining Cisco, Giancarlo founded four communications equipment companies and successfully sold two of them to larger companies. Giancarlo was interim CEO of Avaya in 2008 and is currently Chairman of the Board. In addition, he serves on the board of directors of Skype Limited, Accenture, and Netflix, Inc. Giancarlo holds a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Brown University, an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley, and an M.B.A. from Harvard University.

Glenn Hutchins, Silver Lake (New York), Director

Glenn Hutchins is a Co-Founder of Silver Lake and Co-Chief Executive. He has spent his business career investing in the most rapidly growing and dynamic companies in the U.S. and around the world. Hutchins is Chairman of the Board of SunGard Corp. and a director of the NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. Previously, he was Chairman of Instinet, Inc., and a director of TD Ameritrade Holding Corp., Seagate Technology, MCI, Inc., Gartner, Inc. and Sabre, Inc. Hutchins is active in public and charitable service. He served President Clinton in both the transition and the White House as a special advisor on economic and healthcare policy. Hutchins is a director of the Harvard Management Company, which is responsible for the management of the University’s endowment. He is also the Chairman of the National Advisory Board, and the W.E.B. DuBois Institute for African and African American Research at Harvard. Hutchins is a trustee of the Lawrenceville School, the Brookings Institution and the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Hamilton Project, a director of the Partnership for New York City, and a member of the Investors Advisory Committee on Financial Markets of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. Hutchins holds an A.B. from Harvard College, an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.

Jeffrey Katz, Mercury Payment Systems, Director

As Mercury Payment Systems' Co-Founder and CEO until 2006, Jeffrey Katz launched Mercury with an idea for a unique business model. It became a reality when he joined forces with brother and technology expert, Marc Katz. His vision and payment processing industry experience became the foundation for Mercury's strong start, followed by rapid growth each consecutive year. Katz applied keen channel marketing insight, developed over 16 years of building financial planning and credit card processing businesses. His experience included the representation of smaller Independent Sales Organizations (ISOs), such as Bancard, Inc., of Boulder, CO, and larger bank/processors such as Citicorp Establishment Services in Melville, N.Y. Katz holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Binghamton University, Binghamton, N.Y.

Joe Osnoss, Silver Lake (London), Director

Joe Osnoss joined Silver Lake in 2002 and is a Managing Director. Prior to Silver Lake, Osnoss worked in investment banking at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he focused on mergers and financings in the technology and telecommunications industries. Osnoss graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with an A.B. in Applied Mathematics-Economics. While at Harvard, he also received a citation for advanced coursework in French language and completed internships at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting in France and at Bracebridge Capital, a fixed income arbitrage hedge fund. Osnoss is a director of Interactive Data Corporation and Sabre Holdings, and previously served on the board of Instinet Inc. He graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College.

Larry Stone, Mercury Payment Systems, Director

Larry Stone joined Mercury in June, 2006, adding high-level industry experience to the executive formula fueling Mercury’s growth. With more than 18 years business management experience in the payment processing arena, he provides strategic insight to Mercury’s reseller-centric initiatives. Stone started out with Citicorp Card Acceptance Services in 1988. In 1992 he became Chief Executive Officer of Card Payment Services, an Independent Sales Organization for United Jersey Bank, a position he held until 1996. Then, after six years as CEO of Card Payment Systems, a merchant payment processing company in New York City servicing more than 70,000 merchants and over 350 Independent Sales Organizations, he sold his company to Concord EFS, which is now a part of First Data Corporation. Stone holds a bachelor's degree in economics with a concentration in finance from the Wharton School at The University of Pennsylvania.
